MV= The variable that changes in the experiment ( either by nature- can change scientist- be changed or both )

RV= variable that could be impacted from the change (outcome)
CV= variable that stays the same

Why do scientists use controlled variables?
Scientists want to have as many variables stay the same except for the change (MV) for accurate and valid results.

Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker are developing a Cranium Crunch Homework Machine.  However, they can't manufacture this machine because they forgot to record the following quantitative data.

1- Amount of Smarty Pants juice used to power the machine
2- Distances of each metal piece used to assemble the machine
3- Mass of each part of the machine

Explain to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker why PRECISELY recording these three metric measurements will help them manufacture this product for people to purchase.  Also, tell them what scientific equipment they should use to measure the Smarty Pants juice, distance of each metal piece, and the mass of each part of the machine.
