Complete Review Guide #2 due Tuesday
Answers for review guide 2 -
1.Describe osmosis- movement of water from a high concentration area to a low concentration area to make water levels equal in body.
2. The high concentration area is the celery and the low concentration area is the salt water. The celery will release water into the salt water to make the concentration levels equal. The celery will shrink and become flexible.
3. This is an example of diffusion. The high concentration area is in the oven and the low concentration area is the house. The bread smell will diffuse into the house.
4. The process of osmosis is important to cells to keep water levels equal in the body as water diffuses into and out of the cell through the cell membrane.
5. Diffusion is the process in which molecules of a substance (nutrients, blood, oxygen) goes from a high concentration area to a low concentration area.

Journal #4
1/5/9 Due Wednesday, February 13th
2/7/8 Due Thursday, February 14th
Can you explain why it is not a wise idea for a person to drink salt water, no matter how thirsty that person is?
OR
The
Peterson family is marooned on an island after the sailboat they were
traveling on capsized. The Peterson's will not last long without fresh
water.
Can the family drink the sea
water they see all around them or is there something about sea water
that will not quench their thrist?
Now
you are ready to devise a way to provide the Peterson's with fresh
water using the sea water. Using any or all of the items found on the
island of from the sailboat, try and save the Peterson's.
Bucket, Bamboo, Saw, Palm Leaves, Driftwood, Coconut, Matches
How were you able to save the Peterson's?
