Super Science Overview- Welcome to 6th grade! Throughout this year you will become scientists in the fields of: Science Process Skills, Microscopes, Cells, and Plants, and Earth and Its Changes, and Astronomy. As we investigate each science field you will construct your own knowledge, representations, and inquiry-based thoughts through the use of cooperative hands-on investigations. Our goal is to create a scientific “cycle of knowledge” in which scientists contribute their discoveries to our world of science.

6th Grade Homework Policy
Daily assignments ( such as Journal Entries) are due on the specific due date. Late assignments are accepted, however 3 points will be deducted from your Homework Completion/ Responsibility grade. The late assignment will be entered as a 0, until it is completed.  After two late assignments, students will be required to attend ALP (Academic Lunch Period) in order to complete the assignment.
Students have until the end of the unit to complete any daily late work for that given unit.

Journals (Daily Homework Assignment)-
Every week you will be given a “Cranium Crunch” question in which you will type your response in a Google Doc.  Due dates will vary for each class period.**

Grading-
You will be graded based on the Edgewood Grading Scale. Grades are calculated based on categories:
Homework-  15 %
Homework Completion / Responsibility 5 %
Labs/ Activities 40%
Assessments/Projects- Understanding and Doing Science- 40%
Pre-assessments 0%

Late assignment points will be deducted from your Homework Completion/Responsibility grade- not the assignment.

** Really important **
Make-Up Assessments and Make-Up Lab Investigations-

Please check your email daily as make-up options, what you missed, and information you need to know will be emailed to you.
