Pre- Review Guide #1 Due Friday

Pre-Review Guide #1
Speed- rate of motion or object travels a distance in a unit of time.
Speed Formula- Distance divided by  Time
Constant Speed- Speed that stays the same
Average Speed- speed that changes over the course of time
Velocity- speed of an object in a specific direction
1.
15 m divided by 3 mins = 5 m/ min
2.
20 km + 26 km + 26 km = 72 km
 1 hour + 2 hours = 3 hours
72 km divided by 3 hours = 24 km / hr
3.
Cross Multiple
15 blocks    40 blocks
5 minutes        X
40 X 5 = 200
200 divided by 15 = 13.3 minutes
4.  5 km divided by 2 minutes =

Periods 2, 7, 8 - Due Thursday, April 25th
One summer day you decided to take a ride on your skateboard to the park.  As you cruise down the sidewalk, all of a sudden your front wheels of your skateboard get stuck in a crack.  Using the ideas of Newton's First Law of Motion and Inertia, explain what will happen.
OR
Transportation vehicles, such as cars, buses, and trucks are commonly involved in Newton's First Law of Motion.  The processes of this law are reduced through the use of seat belts and air bags within transportation vehicles.  Design (develop a diagram) a transportation vehicle with newly invented safety devices that can greatly reduce the processes of Newton's First Law of Motion.  Explain how your vehicle reduces the affects of Newton's First Law of Motion.
