Journal EARfutureTH

Soon we will transition into Earth Science: Astronomy and discuss ways we will possibly colonize Mars in the future.  Colonizing a new planet means responsibly balancing resources unlike the current planet Earth.
As leaders colonize Mars, propose (describe) four ways on how resources must be balanced in order for them to be equitable and plentiful today, tomorrow, and in the future.

OR
Write a bill (U.S. House of Representatives' most important job is to create laws. All laws in the United States begin as bills. Before a bill can become a law, it must be approved by the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the President) in connection to balancing a natural resource. What natural resource do we as humans use to much of and how can that be developed into a law to save that resource?

Your balance natural resource bill must include:
1-Title: The first part of the bill is the title.  Begin with, “A bill to…”
2-Enacting Clause: Under our constitution the body of a bill begins, “The People of the -------- ”.  who does this bill impact??? - complete the statement after the…..
3-Body of the Bill: The body of the bill specifies how the bill will fulfill the requirements you wrote in your title..
Your sections need to include:
  • Definitions of the terms of the bill
    • Define specifically who or what this bill is about.
  • How the bill will be funded
    • Where will the money come from to fund your idea?
  • Who will enforce the bill
    • Who will make sure everyone follows the new law?
  • A penalty for not following the new law
    • A bill must specify a penalty for non-compliance. The penalty could be a fine, loss of a privilege, mandatory community service, jail time, etc. The penalty should match the severity of the crime.

Earth Changes  Essential Questions-
These are the questions you will be able to answer and do at the end of this unit!

What changes have occurred to Earth over time and how do these changes impact today, tomorrow, and the future?

Why do we know that continents once were all connected together in a single land mass called Pangaea? What evidence supports Pangaea?

How do scientists support observations that the Earth has three interior layers?
